The Class Y10 was designed by Thomas Wheatley for the North British Railway, for use on short distance goods workings and mineral trraffic. A duo were constructed, which were the last mainline 0-4-0 locomotives to be built in Britain. Both were rebuilt by Holmes in 1902 and again by Reid in 1911. No. 10101 was withdrawn in 1921 but its sister locomotive 1011 survived into LNER ownership and was eventually withdrawn in 1925. None survive. |
