The LMS built a number of 6-wheel brake vans which contained space for carrying luggage, mails and parcels and a guard's compartment. The vans feature a completely open space inside, with a small stove provided for heating - hence why they are commonly referred to as "Stove Vans". The vans had an all steel underframe and cladding with timber framed bodywork. They lasted well into service with BR and a number were saved for preservation. |
