The London, Midland and Scottish Railway rebuilt a number of their "Patriot" class locomotives with a Stanier 2A boiler, cab and tender. The LMS rebuilt seven locomotives, with BR producing another eleven. The new design was roughly similar to that of the LMS Rebuilt Royal Scot class, with which they shared the 2A boiler and many other parts. All of the rebuilt locomotives were withdrawn and scrapped by 1965. |
