Surrey Warner of the LSWR produced 75 20/24t brake vans between 1915 and 1921. These featured a well lit compartment with central lookout duckets replacing the side door entrances. The vans proved to be popular with staff and were referred to as "New Vans" for their entire lifespan. All vans were originally rated at 20t, however the vast majority were uprated to 24t to cope with increased goods traffic and higher speeds.
