The famous Wolverhampton truck and bus manufacturer, Guy Motors Ltd, never enjoyed the same succes as firms like AEC and Leyland in-áthe market for undrfloor-engined single deckers. The Guy Warrior was an attempt-áto build a lighter-weight model in this range, and SJW 515 was built in 1957 as-áa Guy demonstrator with Burlingham Seagull 41-seat coachwork. Aftera spell visiting potential customers, this-ácoach was bought later in 1957 by one of Scotland's best known coaching companies, Dodds of Troon, who used it on coach tours and-áprivate hires until it was withdrawn in 1978. The Dodds family recognised SJW's significance and preserved it, and after the Dodds' AA business was sold to Stagecoach, it was nborrowed by Stagecoach Western for special touring work, painted first in Alexanders Bluebird livery and then in the traditional Western SMT black & white.
